Job Description
We are currently reviewing candidates for the position of Product Development Scientist with a leading food products company. There are 4 positions available for immediate hire. Will work from Corporate headquarters in Nashville TN. These are new positions due to steady and increased demand for products. These positions can greatly enhance your career in Food Science.
The Position:
-- Conceptualize, develop and implement product and process innovations for food products
-- Provide operational execution and project management for new product development
-- Identify evolving food technologies through publications, conferences and networking
-- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to create breakthrough innovations
-- Develop product concept prototypes
-- Develop and execute experiments, and ensure availability of raw materials and resources to meet deadlines
-- Document all bench-top, pilot plant tests and factory trials, and identify process/product problems
-- Coordinate feed trials for digestibility and palatability
-- Develop and issue raw material specifications, finished products specs and accurate bill of materials for divisions
Minimum Qualifications:
-- Bachelors degree in Food Science with emphasis on Food Engineering or related field of study. Masters preferred.
-- Knowledgeable of statistics.
-- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience with new food product and process development
-- Experience with food extrusion techniques, food foams, non-thermal processing and preservation technologies
-- Experience with natural and chemical preservative systems
-- Must have working knowledge of food ingredient functionality and interactions
-- Must have ability to travel in the USA (and some Canada) up to 40% of the time to plant facilities
Other Helpful Qualifications:
-- Experience with mathematical and statistical modeling
-- Working knowledge of food analysis techniques an d instrumentation
-- Working knowledge of food microbiology with special emphasis on Salmonella and its growth kinetics
-- Understanding of nanofibers and nanoparticles as they apply to food processing technologies
-- Working knowledge of food safety, especially on food adulteration and heavy metal contamination
-- VERY HELPFUL IS: experience involving Protein Chemistry, or Protein Nutrition, or Palatability!! (If you have any of these, be sure to point it out on your Resume!
-- Experience with pet foods is also accepted
