Job Description
The Scientist/Senior Scientist develops, manages and coordinates preclinical research project for the evaluation of the Companys lead product candidates. The position conducts and manages preclinical studies with outside contract and academic institutions in support of regulatory filings for lead product candidates. Primary responsibilities include:
Developing and managing preclinical research programs for the Companys lead product candidates.
Evaluating tissue specific matrices for the use in different clinical indications, including the analysis of binding and release kinetics, matrix dissolution, cell attachment and stimulation of new tissue formation.
Establishing and managing collaborations with outside parties (academic and commercial) to conduct in vivo and in vitro evaluation of product candidates.
Writing summaries of preclinical safety program and efficacy data for regulatory filings; assist with the generation of patent submissions, scientific publications, review articles and marketing materials.
Collaboration with other company departments to transfer product candidates from R&D to clinical development.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D., MSC or M.D. or Masters degree in a biologically related field with experience in a variety of cell-based, molecular, in vivo, or imaging techniques.
2-5 years experience with tissue regeneration for orthopedic/sports medicine applications with a focus in the use of biologics as therapeutic agents a plus.
Strong background in bone, cartilage, tendon and ligament biology including extensive experience with cell culture of osteoblasts, osteoclasts, chondrocytes, and/or tenocytes.
Prefer hands on experience establishing and running animal models of fracture repair and bone regeneration and the analysis of results using biomechanical testing and histomorphometry assessment.
2 years experience managing a project team on various preclinical studies to maintain timelines and deadlines for regulatory submissions.
Demonstrated ability to establish and manage collaborations (internal and external) to meet budgets, timelines and deliverables.
